English batsman Joe Denly has been ruled out of the remainder of England’s five-match Twenty20 international series against New Zealand because of an ankle injury.

The 33-year old Kent batsman hurt his right ankle during during practice sessions on Thursday. He also missed the series opener on Friday which England won by seven wickets.

However, English selectors have not asked for any replacement. The next match is in Wellington on Sunday.

Joe Denly, the right hander batsman will stay in New Zealand as he begins a rehabilitation program before the two-match Test series against the Black Caps, which begins at Mount Maunganui on Thursday, 21 November.

If he will play in the Test series, Denly will bat at own down allowing rookie Dominic Sibley to open with Rory Burns.
