The fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is highly probable to be staged entirely in Pakistan after the franchise owners are reportedly agreed to PCB’s long term plan.

Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, said the authority of six franchise teams expressed their consent during a meeting on Monday that the PSL five should be hosted by Pakistan in full basis.

The possible venues are, therefore Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.

“Yes, all the franchises have shown their willingness to back the PCB on having the entire PSL in Pakistan because it would also mean franchises being able to earn more and losses being reduced,” Afridi said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani said,

“I took the approval of PCB’s Patron-in-Chief regarding holding entire HBL PSL in Pakistan, after consulting with all the franchise owners.

“I have invited team owners for a meeting next week on Monday in Lahore, where this matter would be discussed again.”

“Till now, no franchise has shown any reservations, so there is no possibility of shifting the matches anywhere else,” he added.

However, if the competition will be held totally in Pakistan, the biggest hurdle remains the availability of foreign players for the long duration of the league.

It is reported that in the meeting, both owners and PCB authorities discussed about the measures and ways of convincing foreigner cricketers to visit and stay in Pakistan.

However, it was agreed that both the PCB and the owners would move jointly to convince maximum numbers of overseas cricketers to come and play in the league.

It can be mentioned that PCB successfully hosted eight matches of the last edition of the Pakistan Super League.

All of them were held in Karachi in which significant numbers of foreign cricketers and media personnel made their presence in the city.
