Full PSL to be played in Pakistan for the first time

For the first time in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the entire tournament is set to be staged in Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed on Wednesday.

 

This year, PSL is scheduled to be started from February 20 and will come to an end at March 22. Four cities of Pakistan will be hosting the games of the competition.

In an official statement, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said,

“After bringing Test cricket back to Pakistan, hosting of the entire HBL Pakistan Super League is our other major achievement. I never had any doubts it was Pakistan’s league and should be played in front of home crowds.”

In Pakistan Super League 2020, a total of 34 matches to be played of which the Karachi National Stadium and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will stage nine and fourteen matches respectively.

The competition will be inaugurated with the match between defending champions Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.

PCB head further stated, “We had made this commitment to the people of Pakistan at the end of last year’s event and I am pleased today we have announced the event schedule with four centres to share the 34 event matches between them.”

The National Stadium in Karachi will host the qualifier match between the top two teams from the group stage, whereas Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host two eliminators and the final of the tournament.

Besides that, Multan Cricket Stadium will also stage three matches while Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is the selected venue for eight matches.
