Mayank Agarwal slammed his second double hundred in Test cricket as India strengthened their position in the first Test against Bangladesh. At stumps of day two, India reached 493/6, the lead has extended to 343.

Resuming the day with 37 beside his name, Mayank batted for another two and a half sessions, stretching his run feast to 243 runs facing 330 deliveries. During the innings, he hit 28 fours and eight sixes thus he also became the second batsman to slash most number of sixes in a single Test knock for India.

Bangladesh have had some early revival of tone having dangerous Virat Kohli before opening up his account. India were three down at the score of 119 when Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane put on 190 runs in the fourth wicket. Rahane reached 86 in 172 balls.

Before that, Cheteshwar Pujara beginning the day with 43, brought his fifty before being dismissed to 54. He built up a partnership of 91 runs with Agarwal in the second wicket.

India might continue in day three with Jadeja’s unbroken seventh-wicket partnership relating to Umesh Yadav (25 off 10 balls.

However the double hundred by Mayank Agarwal also makes it as the first instance for any team where there has been a double hundred hit in four consecutive Test matches.
