Pakistan agreed to host Asia Cup 2020 in neutral venue

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly agreed to host the 2020 Asia Cup in a neutral venue that is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Continuous refusal from across the border nation to tour Pakistan was worsened when PCB CEO Wasim Khan threatened to boycott the ICC Twenty20 World Cup if India would not participate in Asia Cup.

According to Mumbai Mirror reports, Asia Cup 2020 is now set to take place in the United Arab Emirates in September, just before the T20 World Cup.

A BCCI official as quoted by the publication said, “Our understanding is that the Asia Cup matter is resolved, and the neutral venue will be finalised at the ACC meeting.”

However when PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani was asked about the venue shifting, he said, “It is an ACC matter and the venue will be decided at the ACC meeting.”

Earlier when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) deliberately refused to travel to Pakistan for playing in Asia Cup, Pakistani cricket authorities also raged into conflicting attitude thereby pressurized saying they would not visit India for the World Cup as well.

“If India don’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we would also refuse participation in the 2021 T20 World Cup there,” Mani said.

However, the Asia Cup will be a good preparing ground for the participating teams just before the world event this year.
