The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Wednesday, has announced the schedule of the country’s tour of England next year.

The five-week long tour will start on July 30 and end on 2nd of September 2. The touring side will take on England in three Tests and as many as T20Is.

The tour will mark the initiation of World Test Championship for Pakistan. PCB’s director of International cricket, Zakir Khan said,

“This tour holds special significance since this will be Pakistan’s first-ever tour of England for World Test Championship matches.”

PCB director further said, “A tour of England tests the skills and limits of the visiting sides and I anticipate this tour to help Pakistan furnish their red-ball skills and also prepare them for the all-important ICC T20 World Cup in Australia latter in 2020.”

It was also confirmed that England’s return tour in 2022 will be played in October when three limited over matches will be on the card while three Test matches are scheduled to play in December that year.

Pakistan won three of their last six Tests played in England. In the last series, England lifted the five match ODI series 4-0 along with winning the only T20I.

A PCB press release stated, “The PCB and the English and Wales Cricket Board enjoy an amicable relationship and this being Pakistan’s third bilateral tour of England in the last four years perfectly mirrors it. In 2010, the ECB provided the PCB facilities to host Australia in a two-match Test series.”

Meanwhile, England’s home season next year will begin with the visit of the Caribbean team who will take part in three Tests at The Oval, Edgbaston and Lord’s starting from June 4.
