Romania register biggest win in T20 international
Romania registered the biggest ever win in T20I when they demolished Turkey by a massive margin of 173 runs.

Romania have broken the 12-year old record registering the biggest ever win in Twenty20 Internationals when they demolished Turkey by a massive margin of 173 runs.
The previous record was made by Sri Lanka. The Island nation booked the biggest margin of victory in the shortest format of the game when they defeated Kenya in the 2007 ICC World T20 by 172 runs.
In Thursday’s match, batting first, Romania posted a gigantic total of 226/6. Sivakumar Perivalwar, the Tamil Nadu born Software Engineer cum cricketer, blasted an unbeaten ton 105 off just 40 deliveries.
In reply, Turkish batting line up was crushed as they were bundled out scoring a paltry 53 runs in 13 overs.
Cosmin Zaviou of Romania claimed 3 wickets conceding 4 runs in an over.
After the match, a sheer jubilant Perivalwar said as quoted by the Indian Express, “I can’t explain because I am an engineer working at a software company here. I used to play on weekends for Cluj Cricket Club. Last two years we were the champions of the national T20 tournament. Based on my performance I got selected in the national team.”
He reached into the three-figure mark in the final over of Romania’s innings. However, Periyalwar said he had no idea about the milestone.
“Actually, I had no idea (laughs). After 15 overs, I started to hit and go for a big score and increase the run rate. My teammates encouraged me to hit more boundaries. I just wanted to get a big score on the board for the team,” he said.
Priyalwar also became the first centurion for Romania in T20I cricket.
Romania is currently on top of the points table and will face Luxembourg in their next match on Friday.
Romania claimed a 173-run win over Turkey in Ilfov County yesterday: the highest margin of victory by runs in men’s T20I cricket 🤯
Sivakumar Periyalwar, 105* (40), also recorded the first-ever T20I century for the team 🙌
