Sri Lanka to tour India for T20I series following Zimbabwe’s suspension
The series against Zimbabwe was in doubt after ICC suspended ZC in July this year over government interference.

In the wake of Zimbabwe’s suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Wednesday, announced that Sri Lanka will play make the tour for the T20I series on January 2020.
The tour will be comprised of three Twenty20 matches played across Guwahati, Indore and Pune.
Starting from January 5 in Guwahati, the teams will travel to Indore to play the second T20I on 7 January, before the final match at Pune on 10 January.
The BCCI said in a statement,
“In the wake of Zimbabwe’s suspension by ICC, the BCCI invited Sri Lanka to participate in the three-match series. Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed their participation.”
The series fall in doubt after ICC suspended ZC in July this year following government interference.
Zimbabwe which was a full member of International Cricket Council was accused of breaching Article 2.4 (c) and (d) of its constitution that imposed obligation on members to provide a process for free and democratic elections.
Since 2009, India and Sri Lanka have played a total of 16 T20 Internationals against each other. The ‘Men in Blue’ have won 11 of those encounters, while Sri Lanka have won five matches.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan cricket team arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for three-match ODI and three T20 series amid tight security.
According to media reports, Sri Lankan team have been under ‘Presidential’ security in Pakistan.
It can be noted that in 2009 Sri Lanka team bus was attacked by terrorists at Lahore in 2009, the incident which forced teams to abandon playing in Pakistan.
